How we rank installers

Every installer listed is MCS certified for solar PV on the public MCS register.

Which installers appear

An installer appears on a town or county page when they are within that page's search radius of its centre, or when the page is within the installer's own service radius — whichever is larger. County pages also include every installer based in the county.

The main list

  1. Distance. Installers are grouped into 3-mile bands from the centre of the town or county. Nearer bands always come first.
  2. Profile completeness. Within a band, installers with a fuller profile (description, website, phone, Companies House record, logo and photos) come first.
  3. Claimed listings, then number of certifications, then exact distance.

Payment never affects this order. Paying for a featured listing doesn't move an installer up or down the main list.

Featured listings

Installers can pay to appear in a separate, clearly labelled "Featured" box above the main list. Each page has a limited number of featured slots, the order of featured installers rotates daily, and featured installers still appear in their normal position in the main list. Links from featured listings are marked as sponsored.
